STORY
The morning light glistened across the mesmerising expanse of Kati Thanda. From above, the salt pan unfurled like a forgotten blossom — its petals cracked with time, fringed in minerals, kissed by sky-reflected blue.
This is Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre: ancient, immense, and ever-changing. In its dry phase, the lake becomes a canvas for alchemy — wind, evaporation, and salt painting intricate shapes into the earth. Normally a shallow expense, but now gradually filling from the rivers in the North. As the water merged over the land, small eyes became visible as if the salt was making its presence last as long as it could. The colour was like nothing I’d ever seen before. Cerulean hues of the water danced around the parched landforms etching a sense of silent magic across the lake.
There’s a quiet rhythm here — the bloom of salt not just a pattern, but a pulse. It speaks of resilience in stillness, of beauty found in barren spaces, and of landscapes that rewrite themselves with every season.
