About Me
Diane Armstrong
Landscape Photographer
Darumbal / Rockhampton, Murri / Queensland
Welcome to my incredible world!
I’m Diane Armstrong - a multi award-winning photographer who captures presence and the quiet power of the land: a storyteller drawn to the silent intelligence of the landscape and its living forms. My photography is a journey and a dialogue into the wild: a pursuit of moments that hover between chaos and calm, where light, texture and atmosphere reveal the soul of the landscape. It’s a pursuit of the elusive, where every frame is an invitation to pause, feel, and rediscover the beauty that so often escapes our hurried lives.
As a “Creative”, my life is a mosaic of experience - from the exhilaration of flying small aircraft to hiking through ancient gorges in remote Australia, my journeys infuse my work with energy and calm, strength and stillness. I love chasing the light, creation, perspectives, textures and immersing in the cultures. They remind me that photography is not just about capturing what I see but translating what I feel - crafting a visual journey that clients connect with.
Like many of Australia’s most respected landscape photographers, my work is grounded in reverence for the natural world - yet defined by a personal curiosity for what lies beyond the familiar. Each photograph is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect - to experience the extraordinary beauty that surrounds us, waiting quietly to be seen.
Mentored by some of Australia’s iconic photographers: Danielle Watson, Tony Hewitt, Ken Duncan, and Peter Eastway, my creativity has been shaped through years of immersing myself in nature. I’ve developed a style that bridges the poetic and the precise, the emotional and the elemental. Through ongoing creative exploration, I continue to push the boundaries of what it means to see - and feel - through the lens.
At the heart of my practice lies a guiding principle I call “A Fortunate Lens”, the place I arrived at after life changed forever. It is both philosophy and gratitude - a reminder of the privilege of connection, of being entrusted with moments that cannot be repeated. It shapes the way I see, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, a passing moment into the eternal.
With several regional gallery awards and the continued honour of national recognition, my collection of Limited-Edition fine art prints represents more than places; they are expressions of connection - to land, light, and spirit. Each print invites the viewer to wander, to reflect, and to be transformed by the quiet majesty of nature’s story.
Beyond accolades and achievements, my genuine aspiration lies in inspiring others. Through my lens, I strive to awaken a sense of reverence and foster a connection with nature, encouraging viewers to uncover their own passion and see the world through a fortunate lens of their own. This drive for creativity, coupled with a commitment to compassion, equality, and inclusivity, resonates in every frame I capture.
“The point is not the raw scene, but the emotional connection that is infused into it.”
Join me in this ongoing adventure, where we discover the power of photography and together inspire, connect, the earth’s raw beauty, for its resilience, and for the fragile balance that holds us all within it.
